  1. TEAMS

Teams are to comprise 2 anglers fishing from the same boat.

  1. HOURS OF FISHING

Hours of fishing will be as designated by the Event organisers.   Any competitor found to be fishing outside these hours will have that days catch results eliminated.    A second breach will see the competitor disqualified permanently from the Event.

  1. TAG & RELEASE

The Bounty is a tag and release only event. Any fish not tagged and released are not

eligible for competition points.

  1. TACKLE / LANDING NETS AND GAFFS

Rod and reel fishing only.  Maximum of 1 rod per angler to be used at any one time. Line is to be a minimum of 6kg . Braid lines can be used.      Landing nets only can be used to assist in landing fish. Knotless landing nets are recommended.  Gaffs are not allowed.

  1. METHOD OF FISHING

Lure and fly only are permitted.

  1. FISHING AREA

Only fishing in the Fitzroy/Keppel Bay Net Free Zone within the area designated on the Bounty map is allowed. Fishing is restricted to the tidal area of the Net Free Zone.   Freshwater lagoons and above the barrage are out of bounds. Any competitor found to be fishing outside these boundaries will have that days catch results eliminated.    A second breach will see the competitor disqualified permanently from the Event.

  1. 7. POINT SCORING

Points will be allocated based on the length of the fish measured to the nearest half

centimetre with one competition point awarded per millimetre for fish from 300mm to 400mm (eg 400mm fish = 400 points). Fish 405-­‐600mm will receive 2 points for each mm over 400 (eg 600mm fish = 400 + 200×2 = 800 points. Fish 605-­‐800mm will receive 3 points for each mm over 600 (eg 800mm fish = 400 + 200×2 + 200X3 = 1400 points). Fish 805-­‐1000mm will receive 4 points for each mm over 800mm (eg 1000mm fish = 400 + 200×2 + 200X3 + 200×4 = 2200 points). Fish 1005-­‐1200mm will receive 5 points for each mm over 1000mm (eg 1200mm fish = 400 + 200×2 + 200X3 + 200×4 +200×5 = 3200 points). A chart is included showing the points per length and this will be used to calculate the points for each fish. In the event of a tie on points the winner will be the person with the least number of fish.

The following species are eligible for points in this event.

  1. PROOF OF CATCH

A photograph of each fish tagged will be required. Fish will not be eligible unless a photograph is supplied. Photographs must show the fish on the measuring ruler supplied along with the fisher’s ID tag. Photographs or videos supplied to the Bounty may be used on the website/Facebook or in material produced in relation to the event.

  1. REPORTING CATCH

It will be a requirement of each team member to have a mobile smart phone (iPhone 5 and above or Samsung 5 and above or equivalent.) GPS and date/time must be activated. GPS enabling is required as a safety measure.

After each capture the team is required to report the catch within a reasonable time to allow accurate tracking of progress in the event.  In the event of no reception, photos etc. will be queued and stored in the App and should be downloaded as soon as reception resumes.  Daily sheets should be returned at the end of each competition day and, if necessary, this can be via electronic means.

Completed sheets must be handed in at headquarters at the completion of the event along with tagging equipment including the applicator, measuring ruler and any unused tags.

  1. LOCATION OF CATCH

Catch details will be used for later scientific evaluation. Grid maps will be supplied to accurately identify catch location details. GPS and date/time must be activated on phones. Any disabling of the GPS or failure to provide an accurate location of the catch may result in that fish being ruled ineligible.

  1. COMPREHENSIVE BOAT INSURANCE

It is a requirement of the Bounty Public Liability Insurance that all competitors must carry their own comprehensive boat insurance for the boat they are using in the event.  Sighting of the current Certificate of Currency (at time of the Bounty) will be required before Registration on Briefing night.

  1. BREACH OF RULES

Any dispute or breach of the competition rules will be determined and adjudicated by

2 members of the Bounty committee whose decision will be final. A proven breach may result in loss of competition points or disqualification of the team.

 

A compulsory registration/briefing will be held on the Wednesday evening. Registration will be followed by a BBQ and briefing to provide/clarify any technical details of tagging fish etc. and any updates to event rules/conditions.
