Due to the large number of renominations from last year’s competitors in the usual ‘preferential period’ we are currently working through the nominations and expressions of interest on hand.    This should be completed by April 4.     We shall then advise if there are any places available.    Should you wish to be placed on the waitlist in case of any cancellations please contact us at info@rockybarrabounty.com

BARRA BOUNTY 1999-2011

Not every year at the bounty has been like 2011, in fact we have seen no year even come close.  Bill has compiled a report on the bounty (1999-2011) that shows how the bounty has progressed and how the bounty event can play a role in keeping an eye on the health of the barra stocks in the Fitzroy River.

2011 CARLTON MID ROCKY BARRA BOUNTY RESULTS

The 2011 Carlton Mid Rocky Barra Bounty was held on 22 – 23 September.

A summary of results is as follows:

Teams participating – 50 teams of 2 anglers
Total fish tagged – 1221
Total barramundi tagged – 1208

Top teams:

Lethal Ninjas – Col Brett / Joel Fox – 101 fish for a total of 48.175 metres
Boof Brothers – Steve Lill / Daniel Powell – 93 fish for a total of 46.535 metres
Rapala Street Team – Craig Griffiths / Dan Roth – 83 fish for a total of 40.490 metres

Top individuals:

Joel Fox from Lethal Ninjas – 52 fish for a total of 24.635 metres
Steve Lill from Boof Brothers – 47 fish for a total of 23.555 metres

Barramundi caught on lures 2009 winner

The winning team for Barramundi caught on lures was the “Boof Brothers”. Team members were Daniel Powell and Steve Lill, both members of Captag and they used their local knowledge to good effect.

Dan and Steve tagged 17 Barra for a total length of 9.710m and scoring 12,675 points. Dan was also the leading individual for Barra on lures with 11 fish for a total length of 5.995m and 7,630 points.

Barramundi caught on bait 2009 winner

The winning team for Barramundi caught on bait was “Piranha”. Team members were Mitch Lester and Lee Jackson, also locals from Rockhampton.

Mitch and Lee tagged 11 fish for a total length of 5.820m and 7,240 points.

Lee Jackson was also the leading individual for Barra on bait with 6 fish for a total length of 3,365m and 4,330 points.

Rosscoe James was the winner of the most other species tagged with 12 fish for a total length of 4.685m and 4,370 points.
